zachodniopomorskie

Ustronie Morskie, Szczecin, Stargard Szczeciński, Międzyzdroje, Kołobrzeg, Kamień Pomorski… here you go, one hundred eighty five kilometers of coast, beautiful beaches and medicinal values. West Pomerania voivodeship borders Germany to the West and Scandinavian countries, Sweden and Denmark, through the Baltic Sea. It is here where strategic Polish harbours in Szczecin, Świnoujście, Kołobrzeg and Darłów are located.

A specific climate

Medi-tour Poland. Medical tourism, healism in Poland.

West Pomerania is also notorious for the best climatic conditions by the Baltic Sea. Strong humidity is a result of proximity of large water basins and thick forestation, which accumulates water. The climate here is definitely a mild one. Iodine-rich air, much warmer water – these are the assets that encourage tourists. The climate as well as the landscape is a sufficient reason to visit this region. You can hardly find beaches that wide anywhere else along the whole coast except here. This is also the land of lakes interspersed with not so rare post-glacial prominences. The abovementioned forests are full of wildlife, fowl. The most popular forest complexes include: Gorzów, Drawsko, Goleniów and Wkra (Ueckermünder Heide) Forests.

Seaside and health resorts

You just cannot fail to mention seaside resorts, where you can rest and regenerate. You can enjoy marvelous views and use the boons of Baltic. The most frequently visited are those in Darłów, Dąbki, Kołobrzeg, Mielno, Międzyzdroje, Rewal and Ustronie Morskie. West Pomeranian is also famous for its medicinal properties. The largest health resorts are found in Połczyn-Zdrój, Kołobrzeg, Międzyzdroje and Świnoujście.

Turquoise Lake

While here you should see the Turquoise Lake near Wapnica or Emerald Lake in Szczecin. Uznam and Wolin islands as well as Szczecin Lagoon are all a part of Szczecin shoreland. Also parts of the shoreland are the areas of Wkra, Goleniów and Bukowa Forests. And they are as high as one hundred fifty meters. When you feel like experiencing a bit of luxury or you just don’t want to spend your vacation in the wilds the ideal places for you are Świnoujście, Międzyzdroje and Kamień Pomorski. These are holiday resorts full of tourists and attractions prepared specifically for visitors.

Birds in Międzyzdroje

It’s been one hundred seventy years already since Międzyzdroje began to enjoy a reputation of resort. Located on a beautiful Wolin Island it became a must-visit for domestic and foreign tourists. Hence no wonder that inhabitants earn a living mostly from tourism. Sandy beach, white fleet, four-hundred-meters long pier, trips into the sea towards caesarian resorts in Germany are the main attractions. The Alley of Stars and Stars Festival spice the place up. If you fail to come up against a star you can always look for some more readily available attractions in Wolin National Park. Or in Drawa National Park which is located just next to it. Together they have over a thousand nature monuments! Moreover West Pomeranian has five landscape parks, the most beautiful being: Barlinek-Gorzów, Drawsko-Ińsko and Cedynia landscape parks. If you’re not dizzy yet we need to add this: there are seventy five sanctuaries plus Wkra, Bukowa and Goleniów Forests. They host the greatest concentration of bird species. Totally there are two hundred eighty in Poland with two hundred fifty inhabiting West Pomeranian! Hitchcock would be proud!

Szczecin

Parks and ubiquitous greenery. That sort of green island, surprisingly, is the greatest cemetery in the country. Central Cemetery was established in 1901 and today it is the third largest necropolis in Europe. Planners modeled it on Hamburg and Vienna cemeteries. Today there are over three hundred thousand people buried there.

Sometimes it is said about Szczecin that it is the city of magnolia scent. It is perfect for having some rest, for sightseeing or as a base camp for trips to our neighbors’ country capital. Scandinavian countries are not far from here either. The city is enfolded by three forests, three prominences and one fourth of its area is covered by water. This sort of ensemble results in a truly amazing landscape. In terms of culture it is as much intriguing. Szczecin has been switching its owners for centuries and this unsteadiness apparently shows through the city’s character. Polish, Danish, German, Swedish, even French culture, as Szczecin used to be a French stronghold during Napoleonic wars, left their marks on the city.
